San Diego is the City with the Most DUI

20 of the biggest cities in the United States were ranked and San Diego came out first in the largest percentage of drivers with alcohol-related driving convictions, according to a New York Criminal Lawyer. Next in line were San Jose, California, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
San Diego police told a New York Criminal Lawyer that the high rank is not due to a higher incidence of drunk driving, but due to the department’s aggressive approach to enforcing laws against drunk driving. They also apply for grants from both state and federal sources to hold DWI checkpoints and saturation patrols several times a year.
California has had a long history, both with driving under the influence and with efforts to put an end to it. A 13-year-old girl was hit by a drunk driver in 1980 as she was walking to a school carnival in Fair Oaks, California. The girl was struck hard enough to knock her out of her shoes and she ended up, dead, 125 feet from the point of impact. The driver fled the scene, only to have his wife turn him in when he tried to hide his damaged car from her, MADD told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The girl’s mother used the tragedy to rally people against drunk driving, founding MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Times Square Bomber Gets Life Sentence

Naturalized U.S. citizen Faisal Shahzad was given a life sentence in prison for driving a vehicle full of bombs into New York’s Time Square, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer. There is no parole in the federal penal system.
“The defendant has repeated expressed his total lack of remorse and his desire, if given the opportunity, to repeat the crime,” the judge said. “Allahu Akbar,” Shahzad replied in Arabic. The words mean “God is great”. The 31-year-old Shahzad was born in Pakistan.
Shahzad worked with the Taliban in Pakistan and was in a terrorist training camp only months before he became an American citizen, according to New York Criminal Lawyers. When asked by the judge about the oath of allegiance he took to become an American citizen, Shahzad said, “I did swear, but I did not mean it.”
He began the proceedings by saying, “If I’m given 1,000 lives I will sacrifice them all for the life of Allah.” Shahzad pleaded guilty and said at the time that his attack was vengeance for the deaths of Muslims. He denounced the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The past nine years, the war with Muslims has achieved nothing for the U.S. except that it has awakened Muslims from their slumber. We are only trying to defend our religion, our people, our honor, and our land. If you call us terrorist for doing that, then we are proud terrorist, and we will keep on terrorizing until you leave our land and our people at peace.”
If you or a loved one has been accused of a crime, it is not an automatic jail sentence, especially if a New York Criminal Lawyer is your advocate. Your side of the story has to be heard and a NY Criminal Lawyer is the best possible person to tell it.

Woman Rams Car Past Police

The police used their cars to corner a driver in a Long Island parking lot, but that didn’t stop her from escaping, police sources informed a New York Criminal Lawyer. She merely used her vehicle to ram through the impromptu barricade.
Police sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer that the 41-year-old woman almost ran down a number of officers late one afternoon, setting off a frantic chase that started in Deer Park and continued for 11 minutes until she was arrested, several towns away. “She hit the police cars, pushed them out of the way and kept going,” a Suffolk County police lieutenant told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The woman was being sought after for a parole violation and arrested in North Lindenhurst. After her arraignment, she was held on an unspecified amount of bail. One of the officers in one of the cars struck by the fleeing suspect’s Ford Taurus sustained a neck injury. The officer was taken to the hospital, where he was deemed to be in stable condition.
It is not yet known to New York Criminal Lawyers how the woman violated the conditions of her parole, but it is known that she has been arrested many times, for reasons ranging from robbery to burglary to drugs to car theft.
She was stopped originally for running a stop sign. She then drove off when the cop walked her paperwork back to his squad car. The woman was charged with 18 traffic citations and counts of second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
Should you or a loved one be charged with criminal activity, it’s time to talk to a New York Criminal Attorney. Proper representation is extremely important, which is why you should be represented by a New York Criminal Attorney.

A Long Island woman is now recovering from a vicious attack by a man with a hammer in July, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Police sources told New York Criminal Lawyers the attacker was a man the victim had hired to work for her as a handyman. She met him at a Home Depot store and brought him to her home on July 24, 2010 to do some work around the house.
The suspect fixed the victim’s toilet, but she said he did not do a satisfactory job. When she complained about it to the handyman, he allegedly grew angry with her and hit her with the hammer, leaving multiple fractures, police sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
Nassau County Police told a New York Criminal Lawyer the suspect fled after the attack. Police have been searching for him, but have been unable to arrest him at this time. Officers Shoot Knife-Wielding Man To Death

A man carrying a knife in Upper Manhattan was shot and killed by police after ignoring repeated demands to drop the weapon, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer. He was even tasered to no effect.
The 24-year-old man pulled the Taser’s electric probes from his body, and two officers shot him nine times, police sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer. The man was pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian/Allen hospital.
Police released a recording and transcript the night after the shooting took place of a 911 call in which the knife-wielding man threatened to kill police officers. When the 911 operator asked the man what his emergency was, he replied, “I want you to call the cops because I’m ready to kill.” “What?” replied the operator. The man continued. “I’m ready to kill some cops right now.”
He gave his address and then said, “I’ll be right here,” according to the transcript. Uniformed patrol officers responded to the call and found the man holding a black knife. He was told to drop it, but would not. A police sergeant fired the Taser, but the man kept advancing on the four officers who surrounded him, police sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
Two of the officers shot at the man nine times, striking him multiple times in the chest. A spokesman for the family told a New York Criminal Lawyer, “The family is very distraught. The mother saw her son being shot from her fourth-floor window. We know he does not have a pristine past. But we believe the police could have handled it differently.”

Potential Witnesses Executed Near Nightclub

Two young men who may have witnessed two murder were shot execution style in a parked SUV after a night of clubbing in Manhattan, a New York Criminal Lawyer reports. The two men, 26 and 22 years of age, both of Coney Island, were shot in the head not long after leaving a posh Manhattan hot spot.
New York Criminal Lawyers still do not know the motive behind the shootings. Police had questioned the 26-year-old victim about the death of a Coney Island grandmother who was killed by a stray bullet, while the younger man was asked about his brother’s murder in 2009.
Neither one of them said they would comply with police requests, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer. Police believe the pair may have gotten into trouble while inside the club. Both of them had a history of criminal activity and a number of people who may have wished them harm.
“Both are known gang-bangers who are involved in many things, and their business is likely behind their execution – not the fact that they were potential witnesses in other homicides,” sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
There is security camera footage that shows a dark sedan pulling up behind the victims’ silver SUV. Two men emerged from the sedan and disappeared from view as they approached the SUV. Moment later, they returned to the car and drove away quickly.
Neither one of the victims were very cooperative with the police when it came to finding the perpetrators of the murders they may have witnessed.
No matter what your history with the law may be, the services of a New York Criminal Attorney are invaluable. If you find yourself on the wrong side of the law, a New York Criminal Attorney is ready to assist you.

Facebook Attempts to Protect Users from Fraud

of Facebook’s European public policy has termed the hacking of accounts as a “major issue” for the social networking site, New York Criminal Lawyers have learned.
Facebook is busy creating new ways to detect when the user accounts have been hacked and adds warnings for when Facebook accounts are accessed in unusual ways or from unusual locations for that account.
“The latest thing you’ll see is that is a major issue is people hacking into accounts. Now, if you’re logging in from an unusual location, you’ll get extra security questions and if you want to login by a new device [Facebook] notifies you by SMS or email,” the public policy head said to a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The secretary general of Interpol revealed that his own Facebook account was a target for those seeking access to information on wanted criminals.
“Just recently Interpol’s information security incident response team discovered two Facebook profiles attempting to assume my identity as Interpol’s secretary general. One of the impersonators was using this profile to obtain information on fugitives targeted during our recent Operation Infra Red.”
One new security method New York Criminal Lawyers have learned of is “name verification”. Someone who logs in from a new location is show pictures of friends and asked to verify their names. This, of course, is impossible for a stranger to do.
Crime has become more sophisticated in many ways in recent times, but that does not remove the need for a good lawyer. In fact, a New York Criminal Attorney is needed more than ever to help untangle the law when you or a loved one are accused of a crime. Real Estate Star Sentenced for Theft

One of the fastest-rising stars in the world of New York real estate hit the bottom when he was sent to prison for stealing from his colleagues, friends, and relatives to live the wealthy lifestyle to which he had become accustomed, New York Criminal Lawyers have learned.
The 39-year-old real estate executive will have to serve at least two years and eight months, which could end up being as much as eight years. He was also ordered to pay $9.5 million in restitution. The executive made a name for himself during the boom years of commercial real estate, sources tell New York Criminal Lawyers.
He lived a life of luxury, including private jets and a cocaine habit, which led him to spend $35 million dollars in a buyout. This turned out to be money he did not have, his attorney told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The executive swindled more than banks. His family and friends also suffered from his criminal activity. From these sources, he got more than $17 million in loans and investment capital. He forged documents to misrepresent the extent of his assets or to lie about deals he was undertaking. Once caught, he pleaded guilty to 18 counts of grand larceny and scheming to defraud investors.

DNA Evidence Leads to Freedom

Two men serving life sentences for murder in a Mississippi prison were recently exonerated by a federal judge, according to a New York Criminal Lawyer. They had spent thirty years in prison, but were finally going free, thanks to DNA evidence that indicated another man had committed the crime.
A third man is also going to be cleared of charge, though he died in prison several years ago. The two wrongly convicted men say they were pressured into pleading guilty to a violent rape and murder back in 1979.
One of the men sent an application for help to the Innocence Project, with the assistance of a corrections officer. The attorneys of the Innocence Project requested a DNA test of the evidence from the rape kit.
The test results indicated a different man had committed the crime. The real criminal is already serving a life sentence, after being convicted of rape in 1982, sources tell New York Criminal Lawyers.
The first thing one of the freed men did was have lunch with his lawyers, who drove him to New Orleans, afterward. His entire possessions included two Bibles, a pair of flip-flops, some shampoo, and some socks.
The need for good representation is of great importance in any criminal case. A New York Criminal Attorney is ready to assist if you or a loved one are ever faced with accusation in a criminal case. Landlord Kills Tenant In Dispute Over Rent

A dispute over rent turned deadly, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. A landlord pulled a gun from out of no where, took aim, squeezed the trigger, and with that took the life of a long time tenant. The dispute was primarily over money, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer, but there were other issues at play. The two had been engaged in a long running feud over money, living conditions, and a myriad of other issues.

This murder should not have been a surprise, notes a New York Criminal Lawyer. The landlord had a violent history with the murder victim and the murder victim's family. Last July, apparently over similar issues, the same landlord pulled out a pistol (or possibly an air rifle, reports are conflicting) and fired at the late tenant's nephew. Prosecutors believe that the initial shot was not intended for the nephew but rather for the tenant. The victim was a seventy one year old man who had begun to refuse to pay his rent, notes a New York Criminal Lawyer.

The current landlord had taken over the property following the death of the landlord's uncle (the former property owner). From there, the feud began to simmer. It would slowly boil, with tempers occasionally flaring but violence was never prevalent until recently. Some accounts have it that the murder victim's refusal to pay had created a strong sense of rejection within the landlord, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. The victim's refusal to pay came across like a proverbial slap in the face, a way of inadvertently telling the landlord that she was not part of the uncle's family.

If you have been charged with any criminal offense, the best option available to you would be to enlist the services of a New York Criminal Attorney. Criminal charges are difficult to overcome, and only an experienced New York Criminal Attorney can give you the most positive outcome.

Suspect shot 21 times

Suriving a single gunshot from a police firearm is a rarity, let alone multiple shots received all throughout the body. A man charged with weapons possession was shot 21 times and survived, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. The man was involved in a shooting, and when the police arrived, bullets began to fly both ways. At least two cops were injured in the shooting, but the man who was found with a gun in his hands after the fight was shot 21 times.

According to a New York Criminal Lawyer, the defendant has claimed that the reason he had the gun at the end is because another man involved in the shooting, who died, was trying to kill him and he had to wrestled the gun from his hands. The lawyer for the defendant has stated that he has numerous witnesses who will attest to the defendant's innocence, and he went on to state that the shooting was wrongful in and of itself, as the police did not need to shoot him so many times.

The defendant was fortunate to only receive the weapons charge, as he was originally charged with attempted murder of one of the police officers, although it has since been learned that the officer was shot by a fellow cop in the shootout, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. No one with the police or district attorney's office have spoken as to whether the defendant was not charged more harshly because of his many police-inflicted injuries, but it appears that he may have received some leniency.

Anyone can find themselves in a criminal situation at any time. And for those facing such circumstances, the best course of action is to contact a New York Criminal Attorney in order to get the best possible outcome. There is no one better to guide you through the legal maze and possible obstacles than a New York Criminal Attorney

He can throw a baseball nearly 100 miles per hour without breaking a sweat - and it was that same arm speed, strength, and velocity that New York Mets star baseball relief pitcher Francisco Rodriguez used when he violently punched the father of his girlfriend. The reportedly brutal assault took place as friends, family, and loved ones all watched in noted shock and disbelief. Reports a New York Criminal Lawyer, Rodriguez's girlfriend and her father have hired an attorney and are looking into filing suit against Rodriguez.

Though the six foot, one hundred and ninety five pound Rodriguez and his girlfriend were not married the two had children and lived together, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. Both Rodriguez's girlfriend and her father have successfully filed for orders of protection, which require Rodriguez to keep his distance from the two. The brawl between Rodriguez and the man reportedly arose after the man yelled an insult at Rodriguez's mother, said a New York Criminal Lawyer.

The four time All Star relief pitcher was immediately suspended by the New York Mets for two games following the altercation, reported a New York Criminal Lawyer. Just a few days later the Mets closer admitted that he had done substantial damage to his valuable throwing hand. Rodriguez revealed that he'd torn ligaments in his right thumb. The damage to his hand may jeopardize his playing career and as a result the New York Mets have looked into voiding the remaining years on Rodriguez's contract.

Group Tries to Get More DWI Checkpoints in Texas

DWI drivers may have to a new effort to stop them in Texas, according to reports received by New York Criminal Lawyers. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is trying to get Texas lawmakers to set up DWI checkpoints in the Lone Star State.
New York Criminal Lawyers have uncovered a recent study that shows Texas s the leading state in the country for alcohol-related traffic deaths. The executive director for MADD wants Texas to join the other states in setting up DWI check points. There are 39 states that have sobriety checkpoints – Texas is one of the 11 states that has no such program.
“The point of a checkpoint isn’t to arrest more people, the point and the success behind one is the deterrence factor,” the director of MADD said to a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The evidence seems to point to checkpoints being a valid deterrent. The Centers for Disease Control sifted through 23 studies involving regular sobriety checkpoints and noted that the number of crashes dropped by 20% when checkpoints were involved.
MADD has been trying to get checkpoints in Texas for years, as has the district attorney, but some lawmakers fear it might lead to racial profiling.

Man Kills Ex Wife; Burns Home to the Ground

They yelled and fought and screamed and shouted at one another. Formerly husband and wife, now living together a year after their divorce was finalized. Things were tense but no one could have foreseen what would happen next. He first took a knife and stabbed her to death, repeatedly ramming the steel into her until she died, reported a New York Criminal Lawyer. Then he took twenty gallons of gasoline - a great deal more than a full tank of gas - and drenched the house they had once shared, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. He lit a match and watched as he burned the house he and his former wife had built together. He watched as he burned the body of his dead wife. The flames peeled away at the interior of their house, leaving behind little trace of a life that had once begun with a happy wedding.

To say that the man was unstable is an understatement. Last month he had unsuccessfully tried to take his own life, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. The middle east native was clearly unhappy and that anger and hate and rage and disturbance drove him to an act of violence unfathomable to most people. A grand jury has indicted the man.

They have handed down an indictment of second degree murder and third degree arson. In response the man has plead not guilty. Police claim the man confessed to the crimes. They have a written confession, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer.

If you are facing criminal charges, you should call a New York Criminal Attorney. There is no one better qualified to defend someone that has been involved in criminal activity. A New York Criminal Attorney will work diligently to get you the justice you deserve.

Cab Crashes Into Coffee Shop, Injuring Five, Reports New York Criminal Lawyer

A yellow cab smashed into an East Village coffee shop after losing control early one morning, critically injuring an elderly man, and hurting four others, police sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The taxi was headed north on First Ave. when it hit a Jeep Cherokee turning from E. Third street, according to a New York Criminal Lawyer. The taxi left the street and struck two bicyclists, then went into the coffee shop, hitting a 71-year-old man who was sitting at a table by the front window.
There were also passengers in the taxi, a 30-year-old woman and her boyfriend. They had only been in the cab for less than a minute before the accident occurred. The woman hit her face on the glass divider, losing two teeth and cutting her lip.
“All I remember was that he was swerving and I put my hand in front of my face and the next thing I know I was in front of the coffee shop,” she told a New York Criminal Lawyer. The elderly man who was inside the coffee shop was taken to Bellevue to undergo surgery. Police told a New York Personal Injury Lawyer he was in critical but stable condition.

Four-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Brooklyn Apartment, New York Criminal Lawyer Reports

A four-year-old girl, who had suffered from malnutrition, was found dead in a filthy Brooklyn apartment, a New York Criminal Lawyer has learned. Police have found evidence she was bound to her crib.
The girl weighed only fifteen pounds and had bruises and marks on her ankles that suggested she had been tied down with twine. Police are still investigating the cause of death, which may have been neglect, or may have just been the tragic ending of the life of a young girl who had spent most of her life in hospitals.
When responding to a 911 call from the home, police found the child on the mother’s bed. Inside the dirty room was a bed for the girl, with two lengths of twine attached to the rails on each end, police sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
“There were marks on each of the child’s ankles consistent with her being tied up with that twine,” a police source told a New York Criminal Lawyer. Police are unsure why the mother waited 90 minutes before making that 911 call. She said she found her daughter unresponsive at 6 a.m. but did not call 911 until 7:30 a.m. because she was performing CPR. Her two sons, ages 6 and 9, are now in the custody of the Administration for Children’s Services.
The most painful legal cases involve mistreatment of children, and once charged with such a crime, it is nearly impossible to shed that charge, even if innocent. The assistance of a New York Criminal Attorney can be very helpful in helping you clear your name. ICE Shows Mercy in Deportation Cases

The head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, has instructed the agency’s legal offices to stop deporting certain foreign nationals who may in fact be eligible for a green card, a New York Criminal Lawyer has learned.
New York Criminal Lawyers and immigration activists say this is evidence that ICE is easing up on foreign nationals that would otherwise face deportation. This could affect possibly tens of thousands who may be married or related to a U.S. citizen or legal resident who has filed a petition for them. These immigrants cannot have any criminal convictions to be considered.
The assistant secretary of ICE told a New York Criminal Lawyer that the agency will drop procedures against anyone new eligible under the new guidelines. “Where there is an underlying application or petition and ICE determines … that a non-detained individual appears eligible for relief from removal, [its attorneys] should promptly move to dismiss proceedings,” the assistant secretary wrote to the agency’s principal legal advisor.
“Good for [the assistant secretary] and ICE,” an executive director of an immigrant advocacy agent told a New York Criminal Lawyer. “This is the kind of reform we need. Targeting those who intend to do harm while expediting cases of law-abiding immigrants is the best use of ICE’s precious resources and will save taxpayers money.”

In a recent criminal case, a serial rapist was sentenced to an additional 12 years in prison for the rape of a prostitute. The rapist was sobbing in court as the judge read the sentence. According to a New York Criminal Lawyer, the judge remarked that he was unmoved by the attacker's tears.

The rapist had already been convicted of another rape of a local babysitter, a crime for which he received 15 years to life for. The attacker is 23 years old, and will see his first parole board only after he turns 50 years old. A New York Criminal Lawyer said that he cried, “I'm sorry” during the trial.

The attack happened in the woman's minivan in a parking lot four years ago. The rapist threatened to woman with a knife when he raped, even going so far as to taunt her for her undesirable profession as a prostitute. He also was reported to have said that he could kill her and no one would care.

The victim reported to a New York Criminal Lawyer that she was glad the jury saw her as a woman and not simply as a prostitute.
