The Effects and Safety of Kombucha

Kombucha is a powerfully stimulating fermented tea that has been taken as a healing elixir for thousands of years. Its medicinal benefits are well known and well documented, though it has recently come under scrutiny with the FDA and other agencies, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Kombucha has antibiotic and antioxidant properties, and has even been shown to have anticancer effects. So why is something that is supposedly this good for you being held under the watchful eye of government officials?

The New York Criminal Lawyer reports that Kombucha has been shown to have a high enough alcohol content, in some instances, to rival that of beer. The fermented tea is sold commercially, but a growing number of people are choosing to brew this bubbly beverage at home. It has been found that some of the commercial varieties of Kombucha can continue producing alcohol after being bottled, says the New York Criminal Lawyer, meaning that by the time it reaches the mouths of the consumer, which could be anyone, it not only has healing effects, but also stimulation of a more intoxicating kind, however slight it may be.

There are those who claim that Kombucha has an almost addictive affect on people who drink it regularly. Some people have even used Kombucha to wean themselves off of alcohol. Still, is this such a bad thing? Is the percentage of alcohol in this ancient brew too much for the underage consumer to have access to? Further investigation will be reveal the answers. But for now, health conscious consumers who drink commercially bottled Kombucha might be seeing less and less of it on store shelves as store owners choose to bow out of the drama.

Right Wing Internet Radio Host Hal Turner Sentenced to 33 Months in Prison for Threatening Judges,

Harold C. “Hal” Turner, a former FBI informant and current Internet shock jock, has received a 33 month prison sentence because of comments that were made on his ultra right wing Internet blog in early 2009, according to a New York Criminal Lawyer.

Mr. Turner defended his position as a major media figure by stating that his angry blog rant, in which he wrote that three circuit court judges “deserve to be killed” for their ruling in favor of upholding handgun bans in Chicago and Oak Park, Il, was purely protected under the right to free speech and was never intended to cause harm or invoke a sense of danger to those judges, a New York Criminal Lawyer reported.

Turner maintained that, though his comments in regards to his position may have been extreme and even “disgusting” to some individuals, his large and highly opinionated fan base has come to expect and respect his extremist political stance and that he was being erroneously attacked and labeled, according to the New York Criminal Lawyer. Turner also professed his love for the United States of America and used his past history as an FBI informant to strengthen his loyalty to the US, and was said to imply that his opinions and his actions have actually made the country a safer place.

Turner, who was arrested in June 2009, has spent more than eight months in jail, which will be applied to his sentence, after which he will be barred from participating in Internet radio or satellite radio programming for three years , reports said. Turner is filing an appeal against the courts ruling.

Former Chief Executive of HP May Have Shared Information

A man who used to be a chief executive for the mega corporation Hewlett-Packard, has recently come under scrutiny by his superiors as well as officials, and the water seems to be getting hotter.

According to reports by a New York Criminal Lawyer, Mark Hurds sudden departure from H-P came as a surprise to many of his peers, but now the Securities and Exchange Commission is launching a full on investigation to determine whether or not He divulged privileged information about an upcoming 13.9 billion dollar acquisition before he left.

Hurd allegedly gave the information to a woman who worked for HP as an event hostess... a woman who, coincidentally, later accused the former chief executive of sexual harassment; a charge which no doubt caused him some considerable grief since he left the company shortly thereafter.

The New York Criminal Lawyer said that people who know Hurd stand by him, vocalizing that he acts appropriately in all situations. Hurd denied having any kind of relationship with the event hostess in question, but even so, the SEC is looking back at the ways that he used company funds in his dealings with her to see if that provides any clues as to the level of their interaction.

Sources told the New York Criminal Lawyer that officials at H-P are cooperating fully with the SEC in regards to the investigation and that more inquiry will be needed to determine the course of action that will be taken in the future.

Just because someone finds himself under suspicion of a crime does not mean that he is guilty of committing it. When the details make all the difference, you can trust a New York Criminal Attorney to help you sort through the terms and clauses. A reputable New York Criminal Attorney will stand by you.

Fatal Car Accident Under Grand Jury Review

An Alabama man is facing what is possibly his worst nightmare; a Grand Jury review for the role that he inadvertently played in the fatal car wreck that killed one woman and injured the intoxicated driver, sending him to the hospital for treatment after the accident occurred, as reported by a New York Criminal Lawyer.

The Alabama man is now facing murder charges stemming from the accidental death of the woman who died that night last summer. The injuries that the victim sustained in the collision that occurred on evening of July 31, 2009 were so severe that she died immediately. The man being blamed for the accident was found by State Troopers to be operating his motor vehicle, a pickup truck, under the influence of alcohol and over the safe legal driving limit at the time of the accident, reports showed.

According to a New York Criminal Lawyer, the truck driven by the accused Alabama man crossed the center yellow line on Baldwin County Road 62 and smashed head on into the vehicle that was traveling opposite him in the other lane. That vehicle was being driven by the 68 year old woman, who was not intoxicated at the time, reports showed.

The victim died at the scene of the accident. More details will be made available pending further investigation, reports the New York Criminal Lawyer. Records show that the intoxicated Alabama man was arrested and booked on November 9, 2009. He was later released on $50,000 bail and is now awaiting his Grand Jury review and trial.

Man Riddled With Guilt and Sorrow For Killing His Girlfriend

Sitting in the courtroom with tears of regret and sadness flowing freely, the distraught family of a young woman who was killed in a car crash confronted her boyfriend, who had been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal crash that took her life, according to a New York Criminal Lawyer.

Family and friends, one after the other, expressed their feelings in regards to how his stupidity and recklessness came at a most heartbreaking cost; the life of a beautiful dancer, athlete, sister, daughter and loving partner to others. The 19 year old girl had been dating the 20 year old suspect for several months and they had been happy with the relationship, reported the New York Criminal Lawyer.

But despite how happy they were or how much fun they had together during the time that they were dating, that fateful night of having fun at the expense of safety, of getting behind the wheel after having too many drinks, led to consequences that no one could have foreseen.

The suspect plead guilty on Friday, admitting his fault, knowing that he will never be able to reclaim what has been lost. His life, as well as the lives of everyone who knew and loved the victim and everyone that may have ever met her, are now forever changed.

The New York Criminal Lawyer went on to say that a 3 to 4 year sentence was being given to the man for the death. Though many of those in attendance thought that the verdict was not harsh enough, the deceased woman's mother said that the punishment was fair, and she knew that the man had not meant to kill her daughter.

End of Year Crime Runs the Gamut From Mundane to Bizarre

The beginning of 2011 was marked by a predictable yet interesting upsurge in crimes of all kinds, from the mundane to the bizarre, according to reports from one New York Criminal Lawyer. The past two weeks have seen an increase of petty shoplifting incidents, theft and robberies. Along the roadways there were hundreds more injuries and deaths than normal; injuries caused by drinking and driving, hit and run accidents, and driving under the influence of drugs.

Brutal attacks have picked up recently; incidents like the woman in a Kansas City, MO grocery store on New Years Day who not only threatened to kill a woman after an argument, but then proceeded to mow the woman down with her vehicle going 45 mph outside the store. The victim was rushed to a hospital and remains there with serious injuries to the head. This surge in New Years violence is typical of this time of year, the New York Criminal Lawyer reported. This is an unfortunate sign of the times.

In addition to crime, the incidence of strange and odd events are occurring more frequently, reports the New York Criminal Lawyer. Birds are having a tough year so far. In Arkansas, Holiday fireworks were touted as the cause of death for about 55 thousand blackbirds. Apparently the huge flock was traveling and the explosions scared them and they became disoriented. It was reported that the birds began crashing into each other and everything else; cars, homes, trees and people. Three days later in Louisiana, thousands more birds apparently died because of power lines. The New Year always brings out the strangest and the worst in people as much as it brings out the excitement of starting a new cycle.

Would you like to know your rights? Would you like to see justice served? Call a New York Criminal Attorney to find the answers that you need. No one is better qualified than a powerful, factual New York Criminal Attorney when it comes down to receiving a fair trial.

Elderly Ron Jon Surf Shop Founder Keeps It Loko, but at a Cost

Ron Jon Surf Shop is a veritable empire of marketing and branding in the world of surfing. It is one of the most recognizable names in the history of the sport. It's founder, Ron DiMenna, may be getting old but apparently he still knows how to party, according to a New York Criminal Lawyer.

DiMenna, 73, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol last December when police found a half empty can of the popular alcoholic energy drink Four Loko in his pickup truck during a traffic stop. Four Loko has attracted a lot of media attention recently, working its way up to the level of obsession for college students and party goers, alike.

One can of Four Loko apparently has the alcohol equivalent of six light beers and the caffeine equivalent of two strong cups of black coffee. It is a veritable party in 16 ounces, and not for the lightweight drinker. According to the New York Criminal Lawyer, Four Loko has already been banned on a number of college and University campuses and is becoming more difficult to find on store shelves.

The New York Criminal Lawyer also went on to say that the beverage seems to give those who consume it a false sense that they are okay to drive, which, police assert, is NOT actually true. Consuming Four Loko and getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle is not only dangerous, but it is illegal in all fifty states. Ron DiMenna was booked and later released on $5500 bail, which no doubt was a great reason to celebrate. It is hopeful that at the age of 73, Ron Jon will learn from his mistakes and not celebrate in a way that could put other people at risk.

Wisdom may come with age, but no matter how old we get we cannot know everything, especially where legal advice is concerned. Call a New York Criminal Attorney for support and representation. A qualified New York Criminal Attorney is your best offense and defense where legal knowledge is concerned.

DUI Ends Night of Misfortune and Poor Judgment

A New York Criminal Lawyer reported last week on yet another example of how poor judgment and lack of morality are exacerbated by the intake of alcohol, as a 30 year old man from Scottsdale, AZ clearly showed by his lack of good decision making one night last December.

The New York Criminal Lawyer reported that the suspect was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol at 2 am on Tuesday night when he allegedly struck a woman with his vehicle. The victim had been standing at the rear of her parked car when she was hit. The suspect did not stop to assist the woman. Instead he fled the scene of the crime in his car. The woman was later reported to have suffered non life threatening injuries and was released from the hospital later on that night.

As if a hit and run accident isn't a bad enough judgment call for one night, reported the New York Criminal Lawyer, the suspect then proceeded to elude police in both a car chase and then again on foot after he was finally pulled over.

There comes a time in life when we need to take responsibility for our actions, and this suspect seems to have tested his limits in this regard. He is now in custody and awaiting his final punishment.

Why is it easy for some people to completely let go of morality in the face of adversity? How much does alcohol contribute to this decline in basic social tenets of respect for others? Even if there is fear of being caught, it seems like living with the knowledge of your failure to make it right would be the worst punishment of all.

Mistakes happen to all of us. A New York Criminal Attorney can help you live up to your mistakes by getting you tried fairly and respectfully. A highly skilled New York Criminal Lawyer can assist you in moving through the most challenging times in your life with understanding and clarity.

Routine DUI Stop Garners Bank Robbery Suspect Arrest

As popular state and nationwide drunk driving campaigns remind us via road signs and public service announcements coast to coast; You drink, You drive, You lose. According to a New York Criminal Lawyer, that holds doubly true for one 18 year old South Carolina man who was pulled over at a routine DUI checkpoint that came at the worst possible time. According to reports, the man had allegedly just robbed a bank minutes before and was fleeing the scene of the crime when authorities pulled him over at a pre-scheduled DUI checkpoint that was unknowingly very strategically placed.

The mind of a bank robber is no doubt full of worries and concerns, the getaway being one of them. Any number of things can go wrong. This getaway was bungled as soon as it began, according to the New York City Criminal Lawyer. Reports show that the suspect, driving a gold Acura, attempted to turn around once he reached the officers at the DUI checkpoint, which had been set up just 15 minutes prior to the bank being robbed mere blocks away. After his attempt at escaping on wheels failed, the man jumped out of his vehicle in attempt to flee law enforcement officers. After a brief chase he was caught and arrested.

The DUI checkpoint was disbanded at that point, having successfully apprehended a suspect who may have eluded officers for quite some time had the checkpoint not been there to intercept him, reports the New York Criminal Lawyer, though official reports state that the checkpoint was called on account of rain.

Successful Application of DUI Checkpoints Over the Holidays

According to a New York Criminal Lawyer, law enforcement officials executed a well thought out plan to stop drunk drivers in their tracks over the holiday season, keeping the roadways safe for all drivers and passengers. Reports showed an increase of DUI checkpoints in various areas throughout the United States, as far West as California, meaning more police officers patrolling more streets and by all manner of transportation, though roadblocks seemed to be a major factor in the arrests that were made.

Alcohol related accidents tend to rise sharply immediately following Christmas, as the New Year approaches, reports the New York Criminal Lawyer. Most of the additional roadblocks were to be installed early Friday evening, December 31, and extended until midnight on January 2, to insure that those people who had been out partying maintained safe and legal driving standards, according to records.

Merry travelers noticed the extra police presence and kept their eyes on the road. Even so, there were thousands of arrests made and hundreds of accidents on the highways over what is arguably considered to be one of the deadliest holidays of the year. The fact that New Years Eve fell on a weekend concerned police, as the potential for big parties in celebration of the coming calendar change were even greater than if the holiday fallen in the middle of the week.

The New York Criminal Lawyer went on to say that it is always advisable to choose a designated driver whenever alcohol winds up in the mix, whether it is a holiday weekend or a laid back Monday evening. A driver who is impaired, even minimally, is more likely to be involved in a traffic accident. Like the bill boards say; be responsible. Don’t drink and drive. Choose a designated driver.

Drinking and driving is a serious offense in our legal system and can result in hefty fines, court fees, suspension of license and even incarceration. A New York Criminal Attorney can help. If you or someone you know is involved in a DUI or other alcohol related offense, contact a New York Criminal Attorney and get the support that you need.

Angry woman sets boyfriend on fire in front of children

Intimate relationships are courses in the University of Life, and while not all of us go on to pursue higher education, we all invariably find ourselves in close relationships with others. How well we navigate the waters of love defines how far we have progressed in our development. In the case of the 40 year old woman who set her boyfriend on fire in front of her children, it seems that she has a long way to go and now, a long time to think about what she has done, informs a New York Criminal Lawyer.

According to the New York Criminal Lawyer, neighbors of the couple heard the two fighting and arguing all day long, but it was only when the screams of pain erupted that they called police to come investigate. When they arrived, they found a man who was burned over 15% of his body. The woman says that the man lit himself on fire and tried to blame her for the crime, but the man told a very different story, said the New York Criminal Lawyer.

The man says that his girlfriend had been upset with him all day over his drinking and she had ordered him to leave, apparently for the safety of her children. When he refused to leave his family and his home, he says, she doused him with the nail polish remover that she had been using to take off her nail polish and then set him ablaze with her cigarette lighter, all the while yelling for him to leave.

Reports by the New York Criminal Lawyer further state that when he refused to leave due to pain and shock, she began chasing him around the house with a butcher knife. Police arrested the woman and their children have been taken into custody. The man is recovering from his severe burns. The woman could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison and $200,000 in fines.

Increase in Holiday Traffic Brought a Congested End to 2010

The economy sluggishly raised its head after a long and arduous climb, and so did a growing interest in spending and celebration on the part of consumers, which increased the likelihood of accidents and injuries at the end of 2010, reports one New York Criminal Lawyer.

People began getting into the holiday spirit almost reluctantly, it seemed, but by mid-December the holly, jolly, infectious consumerist tradition that we know and love as Christmas had begun its feverish ascent to peak experience. Do you know that feeling? That moment when all of the gifts are bought and wrapped, the stockings are filled, the cookies are made, the cards are sent and there is nothing left to DO for Christmas anymore except to just allow it to come and go?

According to one New York Criminal Lawyer, many people would benefit by introducing themselves to that feeling a little sooner and slowing down, as the hustle and bustle of roadway congestion at the end of the year is primarily a result of consumers rushing around for last minute deals and details.

Combine those frustrated, busy consumers with an increase of drunk drivers out celebrating all of the joy that life has to offer and you have anything but a silent night. Between Christmas and New Years Eve, automobile fatalities rise sharply, up from 36 per day due to drunk and other impaired drivers to a staggering 56 per day by the time January 1 rolls off the clock, according to the New York Criminal Lawyer.

It just goes to show that whether we are stressed out to the max, joyful and happy or tanked after a company Christmas party, the importance of patience and of slowing down, taking an extra second or two to think about the choices that we are making, really can be the difference between life and death, not just at Christmas, but every single day.

Choose a New York Criminal Attorney the next time you find yourself in a legal situation due to DUI or charges stemming from other alcohol and drug related incidents. A New york Criminal Attorney will level the playing field and help you through the process of moving forward.

Driving Under the Influence a Dangerous Game

Driving a motor vehicle while under the effects of alcohol and other drugs is a dangerous game of chance that can leave you and others scared, injured and if you are not lucky, even dead, according to one New York Criminal Lawyer, relaying the story of two Maryland women who got off scared but lucky one night last November.

A 31 year old woman was charged with first degree Vehicular Assault and two other charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to provide valid insurance after her role in the accident that occurred on November 28, 2010. The New York Criminal Lawyer reports that the suspects intoxicated state caused her to cross lanes without knowing it, hitting the drivers side door of a small Kia heading in the opposite direction.

Now we all like games of chance, but here is where it gets a little bit tricky. Taking chances with other peoples lives and safety by drinking and driving is never playing fair, said the New York Criminal lawyer, who has admittedly seen many such cases in which lives have been forever altered and loved ones have been lost because of negligence behind the wheel.

In this instance, the other driver suffered a broken foot and the suspect herself was not injured, although they both ended up having to be cut out of their vehicles with heavy equipment, which, after a grisly near death experience is probably no fun either. If you want to take chances, then go play the lottery. But don't drink and drive. You might be raising the stakes a little higher than you realize.

A New York Criminal Attorney can be your best defense if you or someone that you know has been involved in an alcohol or drug related car accident. Providing legal counsel and protecting your rights, a New York Criminal Attorney will always be there to represent you.

Lifelong Resident to be Deported

She could not speak, could not walk, could not even feed herself but they loved her anyways. At fourteen months, they took her into their home and made her a member of the family. And, in the process, they made the tiny little girl from Mexico an American, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. And thus she went on, living her life like anyone else who had been born a citizen. She spoke English, wore American flag garb, went to school, lived life as an American - because she was one.

Until the day came when she wasn't.

It turns out that even though her parents adopted her at the young age of fourteen, they never secured her citizenship. Now, this mother and wife is being locked away in a holding cell while authorities try to figure out what to do with her, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Initially, the woman was arrested for trafficking in prescription drugs, a serious crime but hardly one that would lead most people to expulsion from their home land. After she served her sentence she got the news: she was being kicked out, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. But, now she and her family and friends and legal counsel are doing whatever they can to fight the system, to make her a US citizen for good and for real, notes a New York Criminal Lawyer. She doesn't want to leave her family and friends and husband and children. After all, this is her home.

Small Town Mayor Guilty of Beating Wife,

He would grab her fingers, hold them tightly the way a bear holds a fish, force them into the frame of the door, reach back his other hand, and slam the mighty wooden door into her fingers. Wood and metal came crashing into her tiny hands, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. Then, he would grab a pot of tea, fresh of the scalding hot burner, and whip it at her. Pouring and dousing her in flesh burning water. And after that was all done, he would go to work as a rising political star and Mayor of a small town, said a New York Criminal Lawyer.

Today, he has been convicted of five of nine charges, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Perhaps most astonishing is that he refuses to quit. He has said he will not leave his post, that the townspeople will quite literally have to throw him out of office, stated a New York Criminal Lawyer. He puffs his chest out and declares that he has done nothing wrong, that the justice system which he was happy to be Mayor of, has failed and is wrong.

More sickening it that the Mayor tried to use his political power to ruin her reputation. He put out reports that she was money hungry and was trying to blackmail him, indicated a New York Criminal Lawyer. A judge saw through the lies and convicted him anyways. This time, the powerful were brought to their knees to face the swift feeling of justice.

If you have been accused of domestic violence, contact a New York Criminal Attorney today to protect your rights.

Rabbis At Heart of Sex Abuse Scandal

A man of the clothe uses his position of power to sexually abuse a helpless victim. His church looks the other way, perhaps out of shame or something more nefarious, and the abuse continues on for years. Victims claim they have been hurt but no one listens because, after all, what holy man would ever do that to an innocent? But the twist in this story is that this time it is not the Catholic Church at the center of everything, but rather the Orthodox Jewish Community, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer.

A manhunt has begun for a rabbit and his twenty something year old son. Both are wanted in connection with the sexual abuse of at least four women - all of them, disgustingly enough, family members. The horrible tale is just the tip of the iceberg, according to a New York Criminal Lawyer. In Brooklyn alone there have been at least twenty nine reported investigations into sexual abuse at the hands of Orthodox Jewish Rabbis. Spokespeople believe this is an unchecked epidemic that may be silently sweeping the nation, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. Much like the sex abuse scandal that has plagued the Catholic Church, the repercussions of this story may only just be beginning.

As for why the abuse is never reported, speculations are rampant but the most common is simple: the belief that even if the behavior is wrong the punishment should be handled within the community, notes a New York Criminal Lawyer. Police one's own people, as the saying might go.

If you find yourself the victim of, the accused of, sexual abuse, contact a New York Criminal Attorney today to ensure you are protected.

College Football Player Charged with DUI

A star football player on a major college football team gets in trouble with alcohol. A sad story that once again repeats itself. He was handed the best opportunity in America: free education and a chance to be a star player - all he had to do was follow the rules, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. But, he couldn't. The player was arrested for a DUI late at night and the shame didn't stop there. Not only was he arrested but the player was not allowed to fly with the team to their next game. Now, his entire college career (and possibly his entire future) is on the line, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. All because he couldn't follow the rules.

Not only was he a star on his own team, the kicker was also one of the best in the nation. A chance at NFL greatness was a real possibility. While a DUI has happened to other athletes and many have rebounded, in an age of internet awareness and more importantly in an age where players are given millions and millions of dollars, you can be sure that NFL teams will now think twice before getting into bed with someone they may not trust to stay sober, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer.

All he had to do was wake up, go to class, practice, and not screw up. Things that normal people and normal college kids do every day. But, he couldn't, and now his entire life may be wasted away.

DUI charges can ruin your life. If you've been charged with a DUI contact a New York Criminal Attorney today.

Son of Maddof Hangs Himself

A sad story just got sadder, as the son of billionaire Bernie Madoff has been found hanged to death in his New York City apartment, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Police suspect that the death is a suicide related to the infamous father's theft of billions of dollars from some of the most powerful people in the United States of America. A lawyer for the deceased man said that the entire ordeal was the result of continuously mounting pressures associated with the entire scandal. It was said that the son felt immense guilt and pressure to fix things, even though there was no apparent direct connection between him and the entire scandal, notes a New York Criminal Lawyer.

The man used the leash he'd used so often to walk his dog to hang himself in his New York apartment. Saddest of all was the fact that the man's two year old son was sleeping in the next room over. Sleeping soundly as his father decided to plan his own exit from this mortal coil, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer.

The man also sent several E-Mails to his wife, basically telling her he is sorry for everything that happened and that he never meant to harm her of the child. He begged her to check on their child and to take care of him. Sources close to the deceased say that his behavior in the past few weeks had grown more and more erratic and that they were worried he might do something harmful, said a New York Criminal Lawyer.

Simpson Petitions Court for New Hearing

He beat a murder rap once but earlier this year famed football player and former movie star OJ Simpson was finally convicted of something. After a break in at a Las Vegas hotel, Simpson was found to be involved in a criminal enterprise, one that robbed men of their possessions, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. Simpson claimed that the objects belonged to him - that he was simply reclaiming lost property. The incident happened back in two thousand and seven. Now, Simpson and his attorneys are seeking a new trial. But, in order to get a new trial they must first file for a rehearing and such a filing typically must happen within a certain number of days, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. However, Simpson's lawyers have asked for and been granted an extension by their judge. This extension will give them additional time to formulate a reason and a plan of attack whereas it concerns getting a new trial, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. That said, such grants are generally not given: once a trial is done, unless there was a gross miscarriage of justice or the judge feels due process was not adequately adhered to, the trial is over and the guilty go to jail.

Simpson was a star football player for years. He was a star in college and in the NFL for decades. After that, he made the transition to the silver screen where he was a star in the popular Naked Gun film franchise. In the early 90s he beat a murder rap after being tried for the death of his ex-wife and her lover.

Just because a trial is over does not mean that all hope is lost for the guilty. A skilled New York Criminal Attorney can help protect your rights even after conviction.

Scooters are all the rage but they have different risks

They are all the rage in Italy and many European nations: scooters. Cute, reliable, fashionable, and cheap, scooters and becoming a go to source of transportation for many who live in big cities. Though they lack the practicality of a car, their cheap gas and easy use makes them ideal for many young professionals, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. Riders can choose from gas, electric, and hybrid combinations of scooters. However, with the growing use of scooters comes growing confusion. Riders do not always know what they can and can not do. They are often unaware that scooters can lead to DUI charges, nor are they aware that scooters can not simply be parked wherever and whenever, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. There are rules and regulations that differ all over the United States of America. Some require different licenses depending on whether or not you are riding on certain streets, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. For instance, highways are forbidden roads in some parts of the country unless a rider has displayed extra skills. In that sense, scooters can be treated like motorcycles.

More than just the law is the possibility of theft, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. Scooters are easy to steal. All a crook needs to do is cut the chain and walk away with the bike, says a New York Criminal Lawyer. In big cities, where everyone is watching everything but no one ever sees anything, stealing a scooter can take seconds. Sure, scooters may not cost as much as a car but they can still be worth several thousand dollars.

If your scooter has been stolen or you've been charged with a driving related problem, contact a New York Criminal Attorney today.

Breathalizer Costume fails DUI

Irony. Perhaps the most misquoted and least understood word in the English language, which may in fact be an irony unto itself. When we see it, we laugh because we all appreciate the humor that irony can bring. Well, one teenager has outdone himself when it comes to winning the trophy of most ironically dressed. At a costume party, the clever boy came dressed as something everyone knew too well. He was an instant hit and everyone appreciated his look. The costume? He was a breathalizer machine, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Dear reader, you can imagine what happened next. Yes, the boy was pulled over late at night by a police officer and it was then that the boy also failed a breathalizer test. Yes, the breathalizer boy was driving drunk! The irony of it all!

In fact, the boy blew more than twice the state's legal limit, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. And, to make matters worse, he was not legally old enough to even drink. A search of his vehicle revealed an open container of beer and another open container of vodka, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. Apparently the police officer did not appreciate the irony of the situation and booked the boy on driving under the influence and of driving with an open container and of driving while intoxicated while being a minor, said a New York Criminal Lawyer.

Incredibly, this is not the first time this has happened. Last year a man in Ohio fell to the same fate.

While the situations may seem funny, the consequences can be real. If you've been charged with a DUI contact a New York Criminal Attorney today.

New Jersey Steps Up Effort to Stop Hate Crimes

Two separate incidents of what appeared to be racially motivated deaths in the state of New Jersey have prompted that state's attorney general to call for more understanding within the community and a greater appreciation for the plight that many undergo every day, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. The incidents were not directly related but both featured immigrants being beaten to death by gangs of thugs, reported a New York Criminal Lawyer. While the attorney general said that neither beating rose to the level of being considered a "bias crime" (or more commonly a hate crime) the state's chief legal counsel still urged the state's residents to consider what immigrants are going through as they assimilate into a new culture, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer.

Both attacks saw men, proud fathers and husbands, beaten for random reasons. Gangs of teenagers are believed to be the culprits and are currently in custody, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. The attorney general and the attorney general's office have been working closely with those in the community. Religious and secular leaders have been asked to lend their support as the state of New Jersey battles a trend they hope will not rise, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Additionally, law enforcement officers around the state have been asked to help crack down on the problem. New Jersey specifically created a commission in 1997 to deal with just these kinds of matters, so this has been an ongoing problem for some time. Authorities are confident that those who acted will be punished accordingly.

If you have been accused of a hate crime, or any crime, you have rights that need to be protected. Contact a New York Criminal Attorney today.

CIA Tape Destroyers Not to be Prosecuted

The tapes may have shown acts of violence not normally imagined carried out by people in the name of the United States of America, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. They could have shown torture - violent, disturbing beatings and near drowning episodes. At the height of the Iraq War, the controversy over whether torture was being used by United States operatives became front page news. And then there was news that some of the interrogations had been video taped, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. It was thought to be a smoking gun - the absolute proof that torture was being carried out against international law protocols.

For three years, three long years, federal authorities investigated night and day to determine exactly what happened. The tapes were thought to be key, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. And then they were destroyed. Gone forever. Their contents just a whisper in the wind. Attorneys for the United States of America then had to determine whether or not they should prosecute those who destroyed the tapes, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. Of key importance was the fact that apparently those that acted did so on the advice of counsel. Attorneys believed the men who said they believed their actions were not unlawful, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. Emails released via a Freedom of Information Act request revealed that the men who destroyed the tapes knew they would be in trouble but that they believed if the tapes ever got out that far more trouble would occur.

Having intelligent counsel can often mean the difference between jail and freedom. If you've been charged with a crime contact a New York Criminal Attorney today.

Texas To Crack Down on Illegal Immigration and Drugs

If the nation thought Arizona was the frontline of the debate on illegal immigration it ain't seen nothing yet. Emboldened by gains in the recent elections, conservative lawmakers in the Austin, Texas state legislature are preparing to introduce new laws regulating illegal immigration in the state, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. The Texas law would mimic that of the one passed last year in Arizona. That Arizona law is currently undergoing many challenges from the Obama Administration and will likely end up being heard before the United States of America's Supreme Court, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. How that court rules could have a staggering and drastic effect on immigration in the United States of America.

But Texas, a state known not to be messed with, isn't stopping there. It also seeks to introduce a bill that would create a law mandating that one present a photo ID when voting, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. Currently, laws throughout the United States require a photo ID to buy cough medicine, rent video tapes, and other simple measures, but to vote? So far, no law requires such an ID in Texas. The new law may change that. And a challenge in the Supreme Court is likely to follow, notes a New York Criminal Lawyer.

And that's not all. The Texas legislature will also seek to ban a new drug: K2, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. K2 is a new street drug that gives a marijuana like high and is considered highly addictive according to addiction specialists. The law would make possession of K2 a felony punishable by up to two years in prison, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. Whether this will be passed is anyone's guess and its potential effectiveness will be determined in the years to come.

Legislatures pass new laws creating new crimes all the time and ignorance of the law is no excuse. If you've been charged with a crime contact a New York Criminal Attorney today.
