Father convicted of parental kidnapping. If this happens in New York, you need a New York Criminal Defense Lawyer.

It happens all too often. A parent, who does not have custody of their child, takes the child away from the other parent in hopes of keeping the child. Clark Rockefeller, who’s real name is Christian Karl Gerhartreiter, was convicted of kidnapping his 7 year old daughter. Gerhartreiter has supervised visitation rights and was visiting with his daughter in July. Reports claim Gerhartreiter snatched his daughter the day of his visit and left with her in an SUV. The driver drove away with the child’s social worker still holding the door. Baltimore police found Gerhartreiter and his daughter six days later in a new house that he had bought for the two of them. The child was not harmed and was released back into her mother’s custody. Gerhartreiter’s lawyers claimed the man was delusional. Trying to claim insanity, the lawyers projected a picture of man who was so delusional; he thought he was having telepathic conversations with his daughter who was asking him to save her from his ex wife. The jury did not believe it. They believed he planned the kidnapping; especially since he had even hired a driver for the SUV that he kidnapped his daughter in. Gerhartreiter was criminally convicted of kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He now faces 4 to 5 years in a state prison.

If you have trouble with the law because of a crime of which you've been accused, consulting a NY Criminal Lawyer is a must. Not hiring a New York Criminal Attorney can leave at the mercy of the courts.

Metro Card scam will leave you needing A New York Criminal Defense Lawyer

NYC transit Authority is rushing to upgrade their Metro Card vending machines so scammers will not be able to get over on them. There are over 1,600 vending machines in subway stations alone. These machines take in more than $100 million dollars in cash a month, and almost 5% of that cash is counterfeit. That would be a total loss of $60 million a year if these machines were not replaced. The new machines will cost $3.3 million, a small price compared to the millions that can be lost. New York City Transit Authority has good reason to worry; the machine will give $6 change per transaction when buying a metro card. And buying at a vending machine is more convenient for criminals because there are no witnesses to report the fraudulent transaction. If you are being charged with a criminal offense, you need an aggressive New York Criminal Defense Lawyer to help you defend yourself and protect your legal rights. Our New York Criminal Defense Lawyers at Stephen Bilkis & Associates are knowledgeable in criminal defense strategies.

A New York Criminal Lawyer Could Assist Senator Monserrate

State Senator Hiram Monserrate, accused of beating up his
girlfriend and allegedly slashing her with a broken piece of glass in a fight in his apartment on December 19th during a fit of jealousy, was indicted on March 23rd on three counts of felony assault and three counts of misdemeanor assaults.
His girlfriend, Karla Giraldo, needed twenty stitches just above one of her eyes.

Though she first told hospital officials that Senator
Monserrate hit her; Ms. Giraldo later said that it was an accident.

Criminal Attorneys for Senator Monserrat want the video
tossed, saying that prosecutors "spliced" the hours-long surveillance tape footage into a six and a half minute tape, and can thus be very misleading. A demand has been filed in Court by Criminal Lawyers for the Senator to obtain the entire unedited tape.

If you or someone you know has been accused of a crime or has been indicted on charges of assault, you will need a smart and sharp NY Criminal Lawyer to represent you. Your case, like the Senator's, can be riddled with problems involving jurors, police tactics, or the handling of evidence. A New York Criminal Attorney can guide you through this maze.

UPPER EAST SIDE ART DEALER IS ACCUSED OF STEALING $88 MILLION. HE NEEDS A SERIOUS NY CRIMINAL ATTORNEY

The case against Lawrence B. Salander is underway. Prosecutors portrayed him as a master manipulator who operated out of a lavish gallery but cheated art collectors and artists of more than $88 million. Salander was arrested on Thursday with a 100-count indictment accusing him of grand larceny, falsifying business records, scheming to defraud investors, forging documents and perjury.

Sometimes he even sold the same painting to more than one buyer. Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau said at a news conference: "Why sell it once when you can sell it three times?" One official said that the authorities believed Salander's take actually exceeded $100 million.

Salander allegedly used the money to finance an extravagant lifestyle as he tried to corner the market in Renaissance art at the Salander-O'Reilly Galleries on East 71st Street. The arrest came 17 months after the gallery was shut down and 16 months after Salander filed for bankruptcy.

Judge won't dismiss other Adelphia charges-A NY Criminal Lawyer Can Assist You

Charges against John Rigas and his son for tax evasion and fraud will not be dismissed according to a federal judge.

The founder of Adelphia Communications Corp. and his son, Timothy, will face charges in New York, the judge ruled Friday.

Both John Rigas and Timothy Rigas, once Adelphia's chief financial officer, are in prison and serving sentences for a number of corporate convictions: bank and bond fraud among them.

Tax evasion allowed the father and son to accumulate millions for their own use as they mishandled and defrauded in Pennsylvania in 2005. Prosecutors charge that the duo grabbed about $1.9 billion in Adelphia funds fraudulently.

The Rigases are trying to claim that their acquittal on wire fraud and conspiracy charges proves that they did not divert funds for their own use.

If you or someone you know is arrested, hiring a New York Criminal Attorney is a must for you. Lack of legal representation such as a NY Criminal Lawyer can cost you dearly.

Judge Jones' decision says that one case has nothing to do with the other and that The Rigases must face the music.

Sudan's President Charged With Genocide-Don't Face Charges Without A Queens Criminal Attorney

Charges of genocide were leveled against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, accusing him of trying to wipe out African tribes in Darfur with a violent actions and deportation.

The Sudan does recognize the court and feels the charges are politically motivated.

Luis Moreno-Ocampo attempted to get the court to issue a warrant for the apprehension of al-Bashir so that the millions of deaths he planned could not be carried out in Darfur which is still being attacked by the government-backed janjaweed militia.

The terrible killing continues and must be stopped say Moreno-Ocampo. "Seventy-year-old women, 6-year-old girls are raped," he said.

Moreno-Ocampo was undeterred by concern that his indictment against al-Bashir might ignite a storm of vengeance against Darfur refugees and spur Sudan to shut out relief agencies and possibly peacekeeping troops.

These charges must be persued. No one is above the law and if the evidence shows that these things are going on, justice must prevail. These were the thoughts of Richard Dicker who is the director of the program.

If you or a friend or a member of your family is arrested, hiring a Queens Criminal Lawyer is essential for you. Not having a Queens Criminal Attorney will lead to problems which could in turn lead to incarceration.

Despots like Serb leader Slobodan Milosevic and Charles Taylor of Liberia have been charged with international crimes and brought to justice. Milosevic died in custody in The Hague and Taylor is on trial as this new charge develops.

Father Gets Life for Baby's Cocaine Death-Don't Face Life Without A Long Island Criminal Attorney

A father who was so stupid to have cocaine on his fingers as his baby teethed has been sentenced to serve a life sentence.

Along with the life sentence, Dennis Ray Driver, 26, was also fined for his incredibly idiotic actions. The felony murder of his son, Dennis Jr., took place when the father was using.

Driver said he dozed off while the child was also asleep and lying on his chest. When he came to, the child wasn't breathing and the baby died shortly after this. This all took place at the parent's home on Dec. 28. You can't be more irresponsible than this person.

Driver had cut up the dope and did not feed the cocaine to the child. It was just an accident that the baby later sucked on his fingers which were tainted with the deadly stuff. This is according to prosecutor Murray Newman.

Newman wants to send a message to all parents which cautions against having illegal drugs in the area where their children are or play. Driver didn't intentionally kill his child but his carelessness and stupidity caused the tragic death of an infant.

"We weren't trying to prove that he intentionally caused the death," he said. "This sends a message to parents to protect their children from any contact with illegal drugs."
If you or a family member find yourself in this kind of situation, seek the council of a Queens Criminal Lawyer. You will need professional legal representation to help you know your rights and secure the best legal outcome.

Who knew that Mary Ann of Gilligan's Island fame was not able to drive without endangering people. Dawn Wells is now serving probation after being caught with marijuana in her car.
She served a short sentence and paid a small fine. Reckless driving was the official charge.

Under a plea agreement, three misdemeanor counts were dropped.

Wells, 69,... can you believe it! was drunk while driving. She currently runs The Idaho Film and Television Institute which holds Spud Fest annually for family viewing.

Her attorney claims she had very little to drink and that she accidently left the marijuana in the car. She said that the car was swerving because she was unfamiliar with the heater and was trying to get it working in her newly bought car. Witnesses say that she did not appear to be in her cups as she left the party.

Richie Sambora Pleads Out DUI Case

Richie Sambora struck a deal with prosecutors Tuesday just hours after they filed drunken driving charges against him, pleading no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit.

A spokesperson for the district said that another charge of DUI would be dropped.

Sambora is now serving a probation term of three years in which he has to keep himself drug and alcohol free while driving any vehicle. Sambora is the lead guitarist for the rock star Bon Jovi.

He was found to be well over the acceptable alcohol level when he was stopped by police when they observed him driving unsteadily on a Laguna Beach thoroughfare. A spokesperson for the authorities made the charges public.

Although much was a stake, the forty something musician chose to have his lawyer do all the talking while Sambora did not attend the hearing. Blair Berk, entered the plea on his behalf. Berk had no further comment after saying that a deal had been reached with the District Attorney.

Without an attorney, Sambora would have suffered stiffer penalties and would not have been able to make a deal. YOU’LL NEED A LONG ISLAND CRIMINAL LAWYER IF YOU’RE CAUGHT WITH PRESCRIPTION NARCOTICS WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION LIKE HEIDI FLEISS

Police say they got a call warning of a possible drunk driver. When Nye County Sheriff's deputies pulled the car over, they discovered it was being driven by none other than Heidi Fleiss. Cops say during the traffic stop they found prescription narcotics for which Fleiss was unable to produce a valid prescription.
Fleiss, 42, and a passenger in the car, John Owen, were found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, the sheriff's office said. As expected the report criticized baseball for allowing steroids, H.G.H. and amphetamines to become a significant part of the sport’s culture in recent decades.

Those whose names are on the report cface discipline that will be less severe than the 50-game suspensions now in place for first-time positive tests for steroids. The discipline will likely be based on when the steroid use occurred since baseball didn’t ban steroids until 2004 and H.G.H. until the 2005 season.

Even though the baseball players named in this report make millions, they need to know their rights and be protected under the law. If you're in this situation, a Queens Criminal Lawyer can inform you of your rights and offer you the best chance of getting just treatment.

Stephen Bilkis & Associates, with six convenient locations, can provide you with advice on all kinds of legal matters including your rights when your are accused of wrong doing in the work place.

WHEN FACING AN IMMINENT CALL TO APPEAR IN COURT OR BEFORE A GOVERNMENT BODY, CONSULTING WITH A CRIMINAL LAWYER CAN BE INVALUABLE

While The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform continues to negotiate with Attorneys for Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Brian McNamee regarding when they will appear before the Committee, Chuck Knoblauch has been subpoenaed.

Knoblauch, a former player with The Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees, did not respond to invitations by the Committee and has been seemingly in hiding since being named as a steroid user by The Mitchell Commission.

Queens County Criminal Lawyers Have The Answers When It Comes To DWI Stops and Arrests

After pleading no contest to a single count of driving while intoxicated, Rebecca DeMornay has to serve in a three-month program for DUI offenders. She also has been put on probation for three years and been fined a small amount.

DeMornay, 48, who starred in “Risky Business” (1983) with Tom Cruise, “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle” (1992) and “Backdraft” (1991) among others, was arrested October 30 after being pulled over on Sunset Blvd. Police say her blood alcohol level was slightly over the legal limit of .08.

A Queens County Criminal Lawyer can inform you of the penalties you may face if you drive after drinking. He can also advise you of what to do if you are stopped while driving under the influence and what your rights are under the different circumstances which may exist at the time you are stopped or arrested.

It appears from informed sources and the Court’s sentence that Ms. DeMornay had good representation. DeMornay’s attorney entered a no contest plea on her behalf to a single count of driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit.

The Firm of Stephen Bilkis & Associates with six convenient locations in the Metropolitan Area can be of invaluable assistance to you if you find yourself in a DWI situation. The penalties can be much stiffer than those to which Rebecca DeMornay was subjected. Don’t put yourself in this kind of jeopardy. It could be very risky business.
