Chuck Knoblauch, a former MLB New York Yankees player, had gotten into a fight with his common law wife while trying to leave his home one evening. Harris County Police report that Knoblauch had taken the anti anxiety drug Xanax and had been drinking. Stacey Stelmach, his soon to be ex wife, had taken his keys and would not allow him to leave the house. He then choked Stelmach and struck her. Texas laws on assault had changed in September, making the assault of a family member a felony charge. Knoblach turned himself in and was later released on $10,000.00 bail. He is facing a third degree felony charge and up to 10 years in jail if convicted.
