Greeley Colorado Cracks Down on Transnational Latin Gang

The 18th Street Gang, a group with alleged organized crime roots in Greeley Colorado, is five members short following indictments served by a Weld County Grand Jury and their subsequent arrests this past weekend according to a source identified as a NY Criminal Lawyer.
Indictments, arrest warrants and arrests were all made under the provisions of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act. Authorities made one arrest out of state in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Two suspects were arrested in Greeley, Colorado, while two 18th Street Gang members were already in custody at the time warrants were served.
The suspects were all part of the notorious 18th Street Gang. 18th Street Gang has a national reputation with operations throughout the country. It formed originally in California's Shatto Park district in Los Angeles and is regarded as one of the most active and violent gangs operating within and across US borders authorities told a NYC Criminal Lawyer.
Greeley Chief of Police held a news conference and identifie,d the suspects under arrest. Chief Jerry Garner and Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck disclosed the following details of the case to reporters:
• All suspects were arrested on single or multiple counts of racketeering, witness intimidation, and aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery.
• The ages of the suspects ranged from 39 years of age down to 19 years.
• Four suspects were Hispanic. One was Caucasian. All of the suspects were male.
• Names of suspects: Rosendo Santa-Cruz, Ramon Acevedo, Christopher Cox, Joseph Perez, and Jeremiah Guajardo
Authorities indicated that the Colorado Organized Crime Act is modeled under the same legal principles as the federal RICO criminal statutes. The sources were pretty sure that there were other gang members waiting to assume the active responsibilities of the older members who were arrested and that their law enforcement activities would be successful in rounding them up and incarcerating them.

The Grand Jury names were sealed from public view out of concern for their safety. The gang members all have nicknames and aliases. The 18th Street Gang also has known aliases such as "Streeters" and "Los Pokos Klique".

Man Beats DUI Charge While Driving Daughter

He woke up, grabbed the bottle, and began drinking. He knew it would be a long day, he knew it would be a hard day. He had to face the miserable fate of leaving his daughter and he had to do it knowing he was giving her back to the woman he used to love, but now hated. So, he drank. A few hours later, he knew it was time to face fate, bite the bullet, swallow his pride, and drive his daughter back to her mother's home. He called the woman and asked to meet half way, saying he was tired. The woman heard slurred speech and suspected he was drunk, so she called the police, stated a New York City Criminal Defense Lawyer. They arranged a sting and when the man arrived at the agreed upon drop off point the police immediately grabbed him and conducted a field sobriety test.

And this is where things get tricky.

A New York City Criminal Defense Lawyer noted that the man did well, quite well in fact, with many of the tests administered by the police officers. He was able to stand on one leg and count to twenty nine (just shy of the thirty that police normally ask for). He did not weave when walking, despite smelling like a drunk at a bar. But, he failed the portable breathalyzer test that was administered, notes a New York City Criminal Defense Lawyer. However, that test was not admissible in court, due to its inherent unreliability. And because of all that, the man was found not guilty of DWIA.

In Temecula, a woman previously charged with several DUI’s faces indictment for DUI vehicular manslaughter, resulting in the death of her daughter

A NY Criminal Lawyer details that on January 26, the 41-year-old woman and mother of four had recently left her son’s high school in frustration after discovering that he was not around to catch his ride with her. Upon driving home, authorities state that the Jeep containing three of her four children spun wildly out of control at a high speed and struck both a concrete light pole and a tree, which ejected two of the children, including the woman’s 10-year old daughter, who was killed. The other primary injury in this tragedy was the woman’s 17-year old son, who was also ejected from the vehicle and suffered from a broken back.
Upon testing for alcohol, authorities discovered that the defendant possessed a blood-alcohol content level of .22 percent, which is several times the legal limit and led to a DWI. An empty beer can was found inside the vehicle, as well as 11 other empty cans inside the woman’s home upon further investigation. According to police records, the defendant had previously been charged with several drunk-driving charges over the course of 15 years, including three misdemeanor charges as well as one felony charge, which ultimately led to her license being revoked for a time. After completing a drunk-driving treatment program, she was able to receive her license back in July 2010.
The defendant’s four prior convictions in the city of San Diego alone are highly suspect, and the outcome of this whole situation will likely not have a good ending for all involved. The reaction of the children’s father to this tragic state of affairs is not known. In addition to the circumstantial evidence of the alcoholic containers found in the vehicle as well as the woman’s home, an N York Criminal Lawyer determines that, according to official toxicology reports, traces of marijuana were also found in the woman’s blood. Again, the presence of illegal substances in her blood will like affect the outcome of the trial in a negative way for the defendant.

In San Diego County, it is illegal to be behind the wheel of a vehicle with blood-alcohol levels that are beyond 0.08 percent. This mother of several children from Temecula must now live with her destructive choices that led to the death of her 9-year-old daughter, of which drunk driving played a major role.

Concealing Money Gets Soccer Player a Year’s Home Arrest,

If you’re going to hide money from the IRS, expect to pay the consequences if you are caught, explained a New York Criminal Lawyer. While there may be mitigating circumstances and an attorney can get the charges or jail time reduced or commuted to community service time, there will generally be a price to pay for flaunting the law.
The particular former athlete will be spending a year at home under house arrest for hiding $2.6 million in a Swiss bank account. He wanted to save $60,000 in taxes. What he got instead was a whole pile of trouble with the law for criminal tax evasion. Instead of saving $60,000, he was fined $1.3 million for not legally reporting the funds on his tax return said the New York Criminal Lawyer.
At trial the judge took aim at the athlete and said that his new country of residence had treated him well, but in return, he had chosen to deliberately flaunt the law and hide money from the same government that had accepted him as a US citizen reported the New York Criminal Lawyer.
Although the man remains out on a bond, he is facing yet another challenge, prostate and bladder cancer; a fact his counsel parlayed into avoiding a potential federal prison stint for 18-months.
Cases like this always have two sides to them and have the potential to go either way in court. It all depends on the nature of the case and how aware the alleged perpetrator was of the actions going on around him commented the New York Criminal Lawyer. There is always a case to be made that the person who supposedly evaded taxes was not the actual person hiding the money, but that person’s agent.
If you are facing a sticky situation such as this and are about to be charged or have been charged with tax evasion, make an urgent phone call to a New York Criminal Attorney. The only way to navigate through the justice system is to have an experienced New York Criminal Attorney at your side. Never leave something that important up to chance

Angry woman sets boyfriend on fire in front of children

Intimate relationships are courses in the University of Life, and while not all of us go on to pursue higher education, we all invariably find ourselves in close relationships with others. How well we navigate the waters of love defines how far we have progressed in our development. In the case of the 40 year old woman who set her boyfriend on fire in front of her children, it seems that she has a long way to go and now, a long time to think about what she has done, informs a New York Criminal Lawyer.

According to the New York Criminal Lawyer, neighbors of the couple heard the two fighting and arguing all day long, but it was only when the screams of pain erupted that they called police to come investigate. When they arrived, they found a man who was burned over 15% of his body. The woman says that the man lit himself on fire and tried to blame her for the crime, but the man told a very different story, said the New York Criminal Lawyer.

The man says that his girlfriend had been upset with him all day over his drinking and she had ordered him to leave, apparently for the safety of her children. When he refused to leave his family and his home, he says, she doused him with the nail polish remover that she had been using to take off her nail polish and then set him ablaze with her cigarette lighter, all the while yelling for him to leave.

Reports by the New York Criminal Lawyer further state that when he refused to leave due to pain and shock, she began chasing him around the house with a butcher knife. Police arrested the woman and their children have been taken into custody. The man is recovering from his severe burns. The woman could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison and $200,000 in fines.

People can be very unpredictable in a stressful situation. Sometimes they become violent in their behavior and act irrationally. If you have been the victim of a violent, irrational crime, contact a New York Criminal Attorney today to find out what your options are. Driving Under the Influence a Dangerous Game

Driving a motor vehicle while under the effects of alcohol and other drugs is a dangerous game of chance that can leave you and others scared, injured and if you are not lucky, even dead, according to one New York Criminal Lawyer, relaying the story of two Maryland women who got off scared but lucky one night last November.

A 31 year old woman was charged with first degree Vehicular Assault and two other charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to provide valid insurance after her role in the accident that occurred on November 28, 2010. The New York Criminal Lawyer reports that the suspects intoxicated state caused her to cross lanes without knowing it, hitting the drivers side door of a small Kia heading in the opposite direction.

Now we all like games of chance, but here is where it gets a little bit tricky. Taking chances with other peoples lives and safety by drinking and driving is never playing fair, said the New York Criminal lawyer, who has admittedly seen many such cases in which lives have been forever altered and loved ones have been lost because of negligence behind the wheel.

In this instance, the other driver suffered a broken foot and the suspect herself was not injured, although they both ended up having to be cut out of their vehicles with heavy equipment, which, after a grisly near death experience is probably no fun either. If you want to take chances, then go play the lottery. But don't drink and drive. You might be raising the stakes a little higher than you realize.

A New York Criminal Attorney can be your best defense if you or someone that you know has been involved in an alcohol or drug related car accident. Providing legal counsel and protecting your rights, a New York Criminal Attorney will always be there to represent you.

Police Officer Arrests Man with Cerebral Palsy for DUI

Police officers put their lives on the line everyday and are rightfully seen as heroes by many. But, they too are human and not every police officer is always out to do the right thing. They are out for promotions and commendations just like anyone else at any other job. And that may have been a motivating factor when a Utah police officer arrested a man for a DUI. The problem? The man had Cerebral Palsy, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. Upon stopping the man while he rode his motorcycle, the officer ordered a field sobriety test. Because of the man's condition, he has one leg that is shorter than the other. As a result of this, the man informed the officer that it was likely he would fail the test because he simply cannot walk like a normal person, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. The officer didn't care and ordered him to take the test. The man failed the test. And in a greater irony, the man hadn't even taken his prescription medication that day (medications can lead to DUI arrests).

The officer has been praised by the police department for being extra dutiful in taking down drunk drivers, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. In 2009 the officer made over four hundred arrests for DUI. Four. Hundred. But defense attorneys have begun questioning her and judges now find the officer uncredible. She often performs test out of site of the police camera, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. Her actions have been called troubling in the past and arresting a man with Cerebral Palsy for a DUI is just the latest.

Not all cops are good and not everyone charged with a DUI is guilty. If you've been charged with a DUI you have rights that need to be protected. Contact a New York Criminal Attorney today.

Dialing the Wrong Number Lands Woman in Police Custody

Knowing who you have called is usually a good idea. For a woman almost arrested and then subsequently used to arrest others, it would have been a great idea, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. The thirty five year old woman picked up her phone as she had so many other times. She was nervous, shaky, and in need of drugs. All she wanted to do was score one more hit. She needed her fix and and she needed it now. So, she dialed the number of her drug dealer and told him she needed drugs and she needed them now, reported a New York Criminal Lawyer.

The only problem this woman faced: she dialed the wrong number. Instead of calling her drug dealer she accidentally called the police, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. (Incidentally, to any drug dealers reading: maybe it would be a good idea to not have a number similar to that of the police department.) The officer on the other end was surprised to hear a woman calling and asking for drugs, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. In the detective world they call that one a "gimmie." So, he played a long, listened to the woman, and set up a meeting. There the police grabbed her, cuffed her, and took her into custody.

But, perhaps this is one time when crime paid because the woman was not arrested. Instead, the police used her to set up meetings with drug dealers and then arrested those drug dealers, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. One can only hope that she dialed the right number when setting up those meetings!

If you have been arrested for a crime, perhaps because you called the wrong number, you have rights that need and deserve to be protected. Deals, like this one, can be worked out and jail time is not automatic. Contact a New York Criminal Attorney today to protect your rights!

Vermont Driver Charged with Texting and DUI

Vermont State Police have arrested a 49-year-old woman for texting while driving as well as driving under the influence after a crash on Interstate 89 in Richmond, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The driver, from Claremont, New Hampshire, was headed north when she drove her car off the road, running first into the guardrails, and then into trees. She did not sustain any injuries in the accident, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
Not only was she driving under the influence, New York Criminal Lawyers have learned, but she was allegedly consuming alcohol even while she was driving. All this was in addition to her texting while driving. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police have already told New York Criminal Lawyers that inattention was surely a contributing factor.
The driver has already been cited into court to face charges in the accident. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident. The fate of the woman and what possible fines or jail time she might face remain unknown, as of yet.

Camera Captures View of Purse Snatcher

Cops have revealed images from a surveillance camera which shows a thief who tried to take a purse from a woman, but didn’t quite manage to do it, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer. The thief, or would-be thief, followed the 63-year-old woman into the elevator of a building on Surf Ave. in Coney Island, sometime in the afternoon of October 12, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
“You have money! Give me money!” the thief yelled as the elevator went up, cops told a New York Criminal Lawyer. The woman might have had some money in her purse, but the criminal never found it. According to the police, he took her purse and removed a black, zippered pouch. Once they both came out of the elevator, the crook saw there was no money in the pouch, but decided he had taken enough time and ran away.
The suspect was described as African-American, standing 5 feet, 8 inches in height. He was wearing jeans, a striped sweater, white sneakers, and a do-rag. The police have set up a hotline so that anyone with details can find the suspect before he makes another attempt.
Every criminal, whether major or petty, still gets to have representation in court, like a New York City Lawyer. Even the admittedly guilty have all the rights as those still presumed innocent, which means the right to a decent lawyer and a fair trial whether by jury or judge.

The Situation Comes From a Difficult Background

Divorce papers from the parents of Mike “The Situation” Serrentino reveal terrible circumstances that may have impelled the transformation of young Mike into his famed muscle-bound TV persona, The Situation, a New York Criminal Lawyer has learned.
Both of the The Situation’s parents committed adultery, and both of them beat each other, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer. Mike’s father once threatened to cut his mother “into pieces”. She told him she’d be just fine with going out to “find someone else to (have sex with),” according to newly revealed information.
“The Sorrentinos were the most dysfunctional family I ever met!” a family friend told a New York Criminal Lawyer. “Mike’s father had a bad temper and the mom had a sharp tongue. When they butted heads, they were explosive.” Mike, 29, is now a celebrity and is currently appearing on Dancing with the Stars. He has two brothers, 35 and 31 years of age, and a sister who is 23 years old.
His 56-year-old father and 54-year-old mother, split up in New Jersey in 2004 and their legal documents contain a number of terrible charges against each other. “(The father) has constantly, throughout the marriage, beaten and battered (his wife) to the point where she believed the beatings were a part of her life,” sources told a Westchester County Criminal Lawyer.
According to the husband, his wife once “broke his nose” when she hit him with the heel of her shoe. Sources say he often threatened to kill his wife, and once told his children that “he wanted to see the expression on their mother’s face when he stabbed her and cut her up into pieces.”

Police Arrest Members of Pagan Motorcycle Gang

Some leaders of a notorious pagan motorcycle gang were arrested, even as they were allegedly plotting to kill their rivals, according to a New York Criminal Lawyers. Federal authorities raided the gang’s headquarters, a Rocky Point tattoo parlor, to make the arrests.
In the end, 19 suspects were charged, some of them appearing in federal court in Central Islip.
Some of the arrests took place in the Rocky Point tattoo parlor that served as the club’s headquarters on Long Island, and included the man who was once president of the Long Island chapter. He now oversees chapters on Long Island, Sullivan County, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania. His successor as president of the Long Island chapter was also arrested.
Federal authorities told a New York Criminal Lawyer that the Pagans were getting stronger and planning to act against their rival, the Hell’s Angels, who have a Hempstead chapter. The suspects were charged with conspiracy to murder their rivals in the Hell’s Angels and Hell’s Angels Associates. They were also charged with counts of assault, distribution of cocaine and oxycodone, conspiracy to commit extortion and weapons charges.
These arrests were part of a four-state operation which included not only state and local police, but 300 ATF agents. Further details on the case and the details of the conspiracy against the rival motorcycle gang are not available to Westchester County Criminal Lawyers at this time, since the trial and arraignment are still pending. SEC Blasted about Goldman Sachs

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s internal watchdog has stated that the timing of a fraud lawsuit against Goldman Sachs was “suspicious”. The statement seems to imply SEC agents attempted to distract attention from a report criticizing the SEC for failing to detect an alleged Ponzi scheme, according to New York Criminal Lawyers.
Lawmakers have asked the SEC Inspector General to look into the filing of the SEC suit against Goldman, who settled the case for $550 million. That same day, the SEC released a report from the Inspector General that concluded the agency had missed a number of chances to catch the perpetrator of an alleged $7 billion fraud, sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer.
The Inspector General was questioned at a Senate Banking Committee hearing regarding the timing of the Goldman suit. “It would strain credulity to think it was coincidental.” He also said: “I can’t give you a conclusion right now, but it was suspicious.”
The SEC denied any political connection and said the timing had nothing to do with other factors, at the time of the Goldman case.
New York Criminal Lawyers have learned from the Justice Department that nearly 3,000 defendants were sent to prison in an 8-month period for financial fraud. The number of criminal mortgage-fraud and new corporate-fraud cases has risen a great deal in recent times.

Man Kills Ex Wife; Burns Home to the Ground

They yelled and fought and screamed and shouted at one another. Formerly husband and wife, now living together a year after their divorce was finalized. Things were tense but no one could have foreseen what would happen next. He first took a knife and stabbed her to death, repeatedly ramming the steel into her until she died, reported a New York Criminal Lawyer. Then he took twenty gallons of gasoline - a great deal more than a full tank of gas - and drenched the house they had once shared, said a New York Criminal Lawyer. He lit a match and watched as he burned the house he and his former wife had built together. He watched as he burned the body of his dead wife. The flames peeled away at the interior of their house, leaving behind little trace of a life that had once begun with a happy wedding.

To say that the man was unstable is an understatement. Last month he had unsuccessfully tried to take his own life, noted a New York Criminal Lawyer. The middle east native was clearly unhappy and that anger and hate and rage and disturbance drove him to an act of violence unfathomable to most people. A grand jury has indicted the man.

They have handed down an indictment of second degree murder and third degree arson. In response the man has plead not guilty. Police claim the man confessed to the crimes. They have a written confession, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer.

If you are facing criminal charges, you should call a New York Criminal Attorney. There is no one better qualified to defend someone that has been involved in criminal activity. A New York Criminal Attorney will work diligently to get you the justice you deserve.

The two alleged thieves, 19 and 21 years of age, took the safe from the 19-year-old’s home on Hylan Boulevard near Bancroft Avenue at 2:30, one Monday afternoon, police sources told a New York Criminal Lawyer. Beautiful small time spy to avoid jail

A local publicist was able to avoid spending any time in prison after pleading for her sentence to be reduced to a fine, two years on probation, and 300 hours of community service, says New York Criminal Lawyer.

The woman reportedly hacked into two of her rival publicists’ cell phones and listened to their calls. She was able to hack the phones at least 337 times over the course of the last year. The woman had shared a former boyfriend with both of the victims, and may have used this connection to help her hack their accounts, reports a New York Criminal Lawyer.
Originally, the woman had been charged with listening in on the phone calls of at least two other women, but the District Attorney apparently only felt confident of conviction on the two victims that were cited in the case.

According to a New York Criminal Lawyer, if the accused had made an attempt to fight the charges in court she could have served as much as four years in prison. Her plea is seen by some as getting off too easy for her crimes. The young woman apparently used a ‘spoofcard’ to help her access the cell phone voicemails. She was able to listen and record messages at will. The ‘spoofcards’ are legal, but this type of usage is clearly illegal.

A New York Criminal Attorney is the right choice for those facing charges of a criminal nature. Prosecutors are relentless in their pursuit of justice, and your attorney should be as well. DWI is the something you should know about

In New York, driving while intoxicated (DWI) is considered to be a Misdemeanor. This law is covered in the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law, Section 1192. This section defines a DWI as any person driving while under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08% or higher. If you have been arrested for a DWI, it is very important to contact a New York DWI Lawyer.
The New York Vehicle and Traffic Law, Section 1192.1 through 1192.4 cover some of the general criteria of what constitutes a DWI in the State of New York. It is important to remember that there are various ways that someone can be charged with a DWI. The amount of alcohol consumed is a factor as well as the time frame within which it was consumed. The general rule of thumb is that a person can metabolize one drink per hour. Body weight and sex also figure into this equation.

If you have been arrested of a DWI or a DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired) for first time offenders some of the Sentencing guidelines are set forth below.
