Driving Under the Influence a Dangerous Game

Driving a motor vehicle while under the effects of alcohol and other drugs is a dangerous game of chance that can leave you and others scared, injured and if you are not lucky, even dead, according to one New York Criminal Lawyer, relaying the story of two Maryland women who got off scared but lucky one night last November.

A 31 year old woman was charged with first degree Vehicular Assault and two other charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to provide valid insurance after her role in the accident that occurred on November 28, 2010. The New York Criminal Lawyer reports that the suspects intoxicated state caused her to cross lanes without knowing it, hitting the drivers side door of a small Kia heading in the opposite direction.

Now we all like games of chance, but here is where it gets a little bit tricky. Taking chances with other peoples lives and safety by drinking and driving is never playing fair, said the New York Criminal lawyer, who has admittedly seen many such cases in which lives have been forever altered and loved ones have been lost because of negligence behind the wheel.

In this instance, the other driver suffered a broken foot and the suspect herself was not injured, although they both ended up having to be cut out of their vehicles with heavy equipment, which, after a grisly near death experience is probably no fun either. If you want to take chances, then go play the lottery. But don’t drink and drive. You might be raising the stakes a little higher than you realize.
